It’s fair to say this class has a special place in my heart - there is nothing quite like it! Established over eight years ago, this class is a mix of children aged 4-12, some of whom have been coming since it was set up at the request of our Early Years teacher and SEN mum, Maureen Vegh! Words cannot capture its magic, but we feel it every time we make music together. In this class, we see how music unites us, brings out the best in us, gives us all a place to shine and inspire each other. It helps us gain confidence and be sensitive towards each other, to listen and watch and join in and create. As a teacher, planning these sessions is wonderfully different from my usual work, and it is fair to say I learn as much from the children as they learn from me! In this class, I know we won’t stick to what I have pre-planned. We will go on a journey together, but where we end up is as much the children’s choice as mine! We move and sing together - songs we’ve know for a long time as well as new favourites. We play instruments together - it feels magical to move as a team and respond to each other. We play games, which build our confidence and people skills. And we love being with each other!
